About Lleisiau Gŵyr

Lleisiau Gŵyr is a small community choir in rural south Gower. It was established by Mary Attwell in 2015. Originally started as the Llanddewi with Knelston WI choir, they underwent a name change in 2022 to reflect the wider community membership. In September 2023, Mary stepped aside as Director and local girl Mairwen Kirk, a graduate from Cardiff School of Music, took over the role.

The choir sing a varied repertoire for female voices in two- and three-and even four-part harmony. They take a relaxed, informal and inclusive approach to the choir and they welcome all who enjoy the benefits of singing together and the community spirit it fosters.

Their most recent concert was in December when they produced the Concert for Peace, performing amongst others, songs from Karl Jenkins' The Peacemakers, with a live orchestra. They were delighted to raise £750 for their current adopted charity, Goleudy.
