At CofGâr, our Reminiscence Service offers a warm and welcoming experience that helps individuals reconnect with cherished memories from the past.

Using carefully curated Memory Boxes filled with familiar items from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, we create meaningful opportunities for reflection and conversation, perfect for support groups, care homes, and community gatherings. Each box includes historic objects, printed materials, discussion points, and quizzes to spark engaging and enjoyable moments.

Memory Box Loan Scheme: Care homes, memory cafes, and support groups can borrow a Memory Box, bringing its nostalgic items to life for their residents and members.

Facilitated Reminiscence Sessions: Our team delivers reminiscence sessions at one of our museums or at a group’s regular meeting place, providing an immersive and enjoyable experience.

Our Memory Boxes include themes like In the Home, Holidays, Beauty and Fashion, and Music, tailored to evoke memories and stimulate the senses through touch, sound, and sight. With plans to expand our collection to include the 1980s and more Welsh heritage items, we’re continuously enhancing this service based on community feedback and participation.

The Reminiscence Service officially launched on Carers Rights Day, 21 November, and we look forward to sharing this enriching service with all who wish to participate.
