Step Back in Time at our Ancient Egypt Family Fun Day at Carmarthenshire Museum!

Follow in the footsteps of Carmarthenshire Egyptologist Harold Jones and join us on 14 August 2025 between 10am and 5pm for an unforgettable journey to the land of pyramids, pharaohs, and mummies! Perfect for families and kids of all ages, this exciting event is packed with hands-on activities, educational exhibits, and creative fun that brings ancient history to life.

Excavate some ancient treasures, decode hieroglyphics, and dress like an ancient Egyptian! You can even learn the art of mummification with our life size cuddly replica pharaoh, complete with removable organs! Interactive storytelling sessions will whisk you away to the time of gods and goddesses, and guided tours of our Exploring Ancient Egypt exhibition will introduce you to the fascinating life of Harold Jones - illustrator, excavator and collector of Ancient Egyptian artefacts. 

Don’t miss the Egyptian photo booth for a fun family portrait. Costumes encouraged—come as a mummy, a pharaoh, or even Harold Jones himself!
