From Sand to Salt: A Story of Speed, Stillness, and Saying Yes!

Saturday, 9 August 2025, 2:00pm

About

In this powerful and personal talk, Louisa Swaden (AKA The Existential Biker) shares the extraordinary story of how she went from wobbling through Surrey’s roundabouts to becoming the fastest woman on a motorbike on sand at Pendine — clocking 145.334mph and earning the title Lady of Speed in 2019 — and eventually piloting a custom-built machine across the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats.

But this isn’t just a story about speed. It’s about what speed teaches us — about presence, purpose, and the quiet bravery of saying yes before we feel ready. With humour, honesty, and poetic reflection, Louisa explores how her journey from “sensible life” to salt flats echoes a deeper search for stillness, courage, and meaning.

Book Launch
Louisa’s new book, The Stoic Rider, launches on the same day. It’s a reflective, philosophy-infused ride through fear, freedom, and embracing change — grounded in her experiences on the sand and salt. Available at the event.
